Conservation Leaders for Tomorrow Seeks National Coordinator

The Conservation Leaders for Tomorrow Program (CLfT) of the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation (The Foundation) and the Wildlife Management Institute (WMI) announces a search for a National Coordinator.?

CLfT was initiated in 2004. It was developed to provide nonhunting university juniors, seniors and graduate students in natural resource disciplines and nonhunting employees of state wildlife agencies with an understanding and appreciation of the role and value of recreational hunting. The program is not intended to recruit the students as hunters. Instead, it is conducted with the objective of providing participants with knowledge and perspective that will help their careers in conservation.


General Position Description: The National Coordinator will maintain, enhance and improve development and delivery of CLfT programs at The Foundation facilities and elsewhere around the United States with universities and state natural resources agencies and organizations. The National Coordinator will serve under the direction of CLfT chair and WMI vice president Richard McCabe.

The National Coordinator will be a full-time employee of The Foundation, subject to performance standards of both The Foundation and WMI.??

The National Coordinator may initially reside anywhere suitable. As necessary, The Foundation will provide office space, facilities and equipment.

Duties:?
???? Secure locations and facilities to host CLfT programs.????
???? Engage personnel with universities, departments of natural resources and conservation nongovernmental organizations to teach CLfT to students and employees.
???? Establish working relationships and maintain liaisons with participating conservation organizations, universities and their wildlife programs and other natural resource departments from which programs will be taught.
???? Initiate and maintain communication with fish and wildlife and with natural resource agency personnel to conduct CLfT workshops for their employees and to enlist their assistance with provision of instructors, facilities and resources for programs at universities.
???? Develop, coordinate and implement workshop and orientation agendas, including travel and other logistical arrangements.
???? Consolidate and organize program curriculum resources and best practices for program delivery.
???? Coordinate and communicate with and advisory committee for program planning and implementation.
???? Represent CLfT at regional and national meetings and use other communication opportunities to advance the aims of CLfT for university faculty and natural resources agency or organization personnel.
???? Help universities, agencies and organizations to identify teaching sites and to communicate with owners or operators of prospective satellite facilities as needed.
???? Generate and promote communication and leadership outreach.
???? Solicit additional funding, equipment and any other program needs.
???? Assist with development and maintenance of the program's Website.
???? Compile and maintain all program records.
???? Compile, over time, information and databases for ranges, facilities, sources of equipment, instructors, etc.
???? Regularly evaluate program effectiveness.
???? Maintain strict accounting of program expenses.
???? Other duties and responsibilities as needed and identified.


Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university, preferably in wildlife sciences or other natural resource management discipline. The National Coordinator must be a dedicated conservationist with significant professional experience and an experienced hunter. Professional experience in natural resource management, administration, education and communication are desirable. Candidates must highly motivated, self-starting and be a team player and must possess superior writing, computer and interpersonal skills. The position will require a good deal of travel and interaction with university students, faculty and administrators, officials in federal and state agencies, conservation nongovernmental organizations, business leaders and other cooperators.

Salary: Starting salary range is $55,000-$70,000. Additional compensation might be considered based on qualifications and experience. Benefits will be paid. Support for travel, clerical services, office equipment and supplies, and bookkeeping will be budgeted and authorized.
