The only difference is that the promo block type provides and option to have the background colored, or not. The paragraph doesn't have this configuration option. Callout Image
A callout image component is shown below. This is a very specific type that pairs an image with a limited amount of text. The description can not be longer than 150 characters and the heading should also be short. I chose the same image as other components so that you can see that the image shows more or less depending on the size of the page, and the height of the text column. Not all images will be good candidates for this component. The caption goes across the bottom of both columns.
Single Image Component
Nothing too fancy here. It will render a single image media type as full screen. Captions and credits will show if applicable. There is no choice of sizing like there is when embedding media in to a textarea.
Gallery
This component allows you to select as many images as you like. They are displayed as thumbnails, but when you click any of them, it launches a lightbox presentation of them using the "photoswipe" library.

Emphasized Illustration
This component was built and intended to be use with illustrations, or things with transparent backgrounds. However, its really just pairing and image with some text. You can use it however you like.
This paragraph type was made for the use of illustrations, but there is nothing preventing you from using it with other types of images. You might have to try some various images to get one that looks right.
