At their annual convention in February, WMI President Steve Williams received the National Wild Turkey Federation's Lynn Boykin Hunting Heritage Award. The award recognizes Williams' lifetime career achievements that are helping to conserve wildlife and preserve our hunting heritage.

The Lynn Boykin Hunting Heritage Award's namesake was a former president and chairperson of the NWTF's national board. During her tenure, she emphasized the importance of our hunting heritage and helped forge a new outlook for the organization. Today, the NWTF's mission to celebrate and preserve North America's hunting heritage is some of its most important work.

NWTF acknowledged Williams' work at WMI to develop multi-day training and information workshops for state wildlife agencies on hunter recruitment and retention program development, evaluation and best practices. WMI's Conservation Leaders for Tomorrow also introduces future natural resource professionals to hunting and educates them on the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.

"Steve truly deserves the Lynn Boykin Hunting Heritage Award," said George Thornton, NWTF CEO. "His life's work is preaching and practicing philosophies that the NWTF holds sacred. We are proud to have him on our side."
