Landscape Ecologist/Physical Geographer, Gulf Coast Prairie LCC
The Wildlife Management Institute is accepting applications on behalf of the Gulf Coast Prairie Landscape Conservation Cooperative (GCP LCC) for a Landscape Ecologist/Physical Geographer. The position will be located in Lafayette, Louisiana and will be co-located with the GCP LCC Coordinator in the National Wetlands Research Center. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading efforts in landscape conservation design (LCD) for the GCP LCC and for using this information to help advance climate change adaptation strategies and restoration activities on the Gulf Coast. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating those efforts with three Gulf Coast LCCs (Gulf Coastal Plains and Ozarks, South Atlantic and Peninsular Florida) and the two other Southwest Region LCCs (Great Plains and Desert). This position will act as a technical and scientific leader and coordinator responsible for the design, development, coordination and administration of a multi-partner landscape conservation design team (LCDT). Activities will include project design and planning, development and documentation of data standards, species distribution modeling, analysis, research and application of GIS and remote sensing methods and techniques. This is a one-year position with potential for extension depending on availability of funding and job performance.
