Tardy Commentary Possible on America's Great Outdoors Initiative

Last April, the Obama Administration established the America's Great Outdoors Initiative, with a focus of identifying "how sporting activities can help Americans connect with and learn about the sporting community's stewardship and restoration of outdoor resources." The President called on a number of federal agencies, including the Departments of Agriculture and the Interior, to lead the effort. Since then, a number of listening sessions have been held around the country to gather input and ideas.

A final listening session was scheduled for September 15 in Washington, D.C., targeted at the leadership of organizations involved in wildlife?related issues. Groups and individuals unable to attend that session can provide input via the Internet.

A report summarizing the input received at the listening sessions and the internet site, along with specific recommendations, is due to the President on November 15. (pmr)
