New England Cottontail - Regional Restoration, Monitoring, and Management

New England Cottontail - Regional Restoration, Monitoring, and Management

This multi-state conservation effort (April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2027) aims to prevent the need to list the NEC, the only cottontail rabbit native to areas east of New York’s Hudson River Valley, as threatened or endangered. WMI manages subawards, reporting, payments, and matching funds for five participating northeastern states, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and supporting on-the-ground conservation actions.
