The Million Dollar Duck Airs on Animal Planet
On September 14, the documentary ?The Million Dollar Duck? premiered on national television. The 90-minute movie that aired on Animal Planet focuses on the Federal Duck Stamp Contest and several of the artists that compete annually for the honor of having their art on the stamp. The movie also takes a look at the history of the Duck Stamp program and its conservation benefits.
?The award-winning video, The Million Dollar Duck, was very good, and at the same time it was funny, human, quirky, and serious. This presents a real opportunity to reach vast numbers of people who are not familiar with the great work of the Federal Duck Stamp,? commented Paul Baicich, President of Friends of the Migratory Bird/Duck Stamp who was at a pre-screening of the movie prior to the judging of the 2017 contest on September 10. ?Through the entertaining video these as-yet-unaware folks may get some insight into the artwork, the people, the mission, and, most importantly, the conservation delivery of the program.?
If you were not able to watch the documentary on Animal Planet, it is available to rent or buy on iTunes and Amazon, or keep an eye on local listings for times that it will re-air.
