Sheehan Appointed as FWS Deputy Director
Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke announced on June 5 that Greg Sheehan, Director of Utah’s Division of Wildlife Resources, has been appointed to serve as Deputy Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Sheehan will start his tenure in mid-June and will serve as Acting Director until the permanent director is nominated and confirmed. Sheehan has nearly 25 years of experience working on natural resource and wildlife issues in Utah. Prior to joining the state he was a civilian employee of the Air Force managing business efficiencies and contracting.
“We are grateful to have Greg Sheehan join our team and help lead USFWS as we advance a pro-conservation and more collaborative agenda at the Department,” said Secretary Zinke. “His experience and proven record in wildlife service as well as his organizational management skills will be an invaluable asset to the Service and the Department.”
