NABCI Releases Farm Bill Field Guide

The Private and Working Lands subcommittee of the North American Bird Conservation Initiative (NABCI) recently released the Field Guide to Fish and Wildlife Conservation in the Farm Bill, 2018-2023 Edition. The guide is primarily designed for those who work collaboratively with private landowners and agricultural producers to improve soil health, water quality, and fish and wildlife habitat. It provides an overview of the Conservation Title in the 2018 Farm Bill, as well as Farm Bill history, program delivery, the role of partnerships, and priority-setting. The guide also includes current program rules as outlined by the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Farm Service Agency and offers links to a variety of resources to help understand and utilize Farm Bill programs. Using case studies and details on a variety of Farm Bill conservation programs, the Field Guide to Fish and Wildlife Conservation in the Farm Bill is intended to serve as a tool for fish and wildlife conservation providers—the on-the-ground biologists, range conservationists, foresters, and others—to help them navigate the Farm Bill and its programs as they engage with landowners to conserve fish and wildlife habitat.
